Description

Details

Similar in texture to an old school 'hair grease,' This blend of oils, butters, and veggie waxes acts as a humectant and protectant for hair, increasing shine to a high glossy sheen and locking in moisture. It's packed with essential fatty acids to nourish scalp, and actually sinks into your hair and skin for a long lasting, non-greasy feeling. It's great for braids, imparts shine and moisture to loose hair, brushes nicely into the hairline for a glossy finish, and adds luster to locks! Contains virgin coconut cream, mango oil, and hempseed oil in a base of nourishing castor oil.

HOW TO USE Rub between your fingers or palms to soften/liquefy. Use to moisturize scalp, to twist locs, to seal the ends of twists or braids, to polish a pulled-back style or an updo, to add weight to the canopy of your hair, to weigh down flyaways or control frizz, or to create waves on super short cuts.

Store in a cool, dry place, and use within one year.

  1. Pre-poo Review by MCG

Great as a pre-poo treatment! (Posted on 4/22/14)

  2. Burnt Sugar Review by BossLady

I smelled the Burnt Sugar in Target and thought it was going to be too much of a scent so I bought a mini to try. But it made my daughter smell like a fresh baked cookie which was really cute! I love the texture of this product and it made her hair very moisturized. I will be trying the Sugar Berries for myself next. (Posted on 4/16/14)

  3. Excellent Review by Cherisse

I just purchased this at my local Target and I love it. I used it to twist my locs and I love how light it is. The scent is fantastic! (Posted on 4/6/14)

  4. oh emmm gee Review by a convert

1st time buyer and I'm hooked! used burnt sugar to blow dry and flat iron and my hair is shiny soft moisturized. I ordered the mini b/c I'm new to oyin and all I can say is I will be back for the 8oz. I am 1 year post relaxer i didn't bc so I'm still transitioning my shoulder length 3c hair. I just finished flat ironing so I haven't even been through a day to see how my hair will hold up but I'm just so in love right now with how well my hair has behaved b/c trust me my hair has a mind of its own and cooperating isn't high on the to do list. full disclosure-I did alter my regular wash routine to include another lines pre-poo treatment and detangle shampoo followed by oyins honey hemp condish which I kept in an hour. my one blah is the sugar pomade initially felt gummy in my hands and it really didn't play well with my wet (but not soaking) hair. it went on better when my hair was damp to damp dry. also not a huge fan of products that smell like food; it doesn't smell bad certainly not a commercial or artificial scent but burnt sugar is very strong/pungent. this isn't enough to deter me from using it but seriously if strong food smells aren't your thing consider yourself forewarned. 5. Love it Review by Lakendra

I have 4c hair and have been looking for something that works wonders for adding moisture. I use this product for my twist outs and it is amazing! My hair stays moist for at least two days before I re-twist! Love my sister, T, for recommending this company and product. (Posted on 3/26/14)

  6. Love this stuff! Review by Lesh

First started with this company a year ago, and I love it! I've used this pomade to seal mini-twists and keep them moisturized, to create shine, or just for the lovely smell. I hated the scent of the Burnt Sugar pomade at first (because I had been turned off to the overly sweet smell of syrup), but it grew on me (just as I did with the Hair Dew). When my scalp started acting up this winter, this pomade was the only think that could keep my scalp moisturized. I generally use it just for that, now. My scalp still has problems as we're coming into spring, but this helps a lot. Thanks, Oyin! (Posted on 3/23/14)

  7. Ohhh Emmm Geeeeee Review by egyptjones

  8. Great!! Review by Shan

I absolutely LOVE this pomade! It leaves my hair soft with a nice sheen and the smell is amazing. (Posted on 2/3/14)

  9. My hair loves this stuff! Review by AD

I recently purchased this product. When I got it in the mail, I was on day 3 of a twist out and decided to use it to re-twist that night with a little water. My twist-out was absolutely gorgeous, soft and shiny the next morning. I got so many compliments at work. A little truly goes a long way. I haven't used it so far the following nights and the shine of softness is still there. This will definitely be a staple product for me!
Thank you Oyin! (Posted on 1/29/14)

  10. All I can say is wow! Review by N

I used the Honey Hemp Condish from Oyin while I was doing my long transition from relaxed to natural hair and loved it. I read mostly great reviews on the Burnt Sugar pomade and wanted to try it for some time. I thought it was too good to be true and kept pushing off trying it. So I finally bought the large size during the Black Friday sale. When I received it, at first the smell made me wonder if I made a mistake. The scent was not what I expected from the reviews. I almost wondered how I would tolerate the scent but I decided to try it anyway.
Well, I am glad I tried it and glad I ordered the big size! Now I love the smell and so do employees at the hospital where I work. A nurse came by and asked if someone was eating pancakes with maple syrup. I knew it was my hair she was smelling. :) In a hospital where nothing really smells great, that is a welcome scent and it put her and others in a good mood. So thanks Oyin.
Lastly and just as important is how my hair loves this stuff. I use it as a pomade to pull my natural hair in a bun and my hair is defined as in waves and ways I didn't know I could get and the SHINE is amazing. I also use it as a sealant and I have no issues. It is winter in NYC and it is my great for these colder months. (will see if can be used in the summer/humidity months).
So, I highly recommend Oyin's Burnt Sugar Pomade! I got past the initial turn-off of the scent to fall in love with it and even inadvertently put a smile on the faces of employees who work in dismal environments. So please Oyin don't stop making this and please don't change the formulation. (Posted on 12/29/13)

  15. Not for me Review by bb

Hi everyone! I've been using Oyin for about 5yrs. I tried both flavors of this pomade and I have to say that I didn't really care for them. I have high porosity type 4 hair. They're a bit too heavy for me. They're good for greasing your scalp if that's something you like to do, and that's what I used it for so it's not like I got absolutely no use out of them. They'd also make good sealers if you do that. The sugar berry scent is very funny smelling to me. It's overly sweet, and the consistency of the pomade doesn't lend itself really to the scent. It's a good product, and the quality is definitely there but it just didn't mesh with my routine. (Posted on 11/16/13)

  16. sugar pomade Review by Gloria

This has really helped my hair tremendously, no dryness, or itchy scalp. I love the smell of this. and it did not build up in my hair. All of your products I am using are great. You guys are wonderful! (Posted on 8/9/13)

  17. O M G!!! Review by Nikki

I was skeptical about using this with other products, but let me tell you, I use this as a sealer (not the ends, but hunty the whole twist) and it is amazing. Gives lots of shine, definition, and I leave a sweet trail wherever I go. You want to find me....follow the scent:) I'm so used to people asking me what perfume am I wearing, lol! Would reccommend to anyone if they want shine, definition, and great hold. So far for me, I use it over other products without problem. My #1 staple. (Posted on 8/8/13)

  18. Love the product versatility!! Review by Mikel

Thank you Oyin Homemade for creating a truly versatile natural product that my husband and I both can enjoy daily without worrying about product buildup. Oh did I mention how yummy the Sugar Berries and Burnt Sugar smell! (Posted on 8/7/13)

  19. Died and went to sugary heaven Review by curly bean

I absolutely love this product. The biggest reason? The scent! It just puts me in a good mood. Kinda smells like pecan pie. I have a mini i keep in my purse for emergencies...even for a non-hair, hands are really dry emergency. This products helps add shine, and softens the crunchy gel hair. A holy grail! (Posted on 8/7/13)

  20. Tame those Frizzy Ends Review by LaTasha

I love the sugar pomades! They're great for taming my fly away ends and locking my two strand twist ends. My favorite is sugar berries. I just love the sweet smell of it. (Posted on 8/7/13)

  21. Excellent seallent! Review by Shirley

I'm not a pomade person - don't care about controlling the edges. I use this product to seal the ends of my hair. It's not too heavy for my fine to medium low porosity hair. It really protects my hair very well, and happy to say I'm entering my third year of being natural and my hair is doing great! Definitely recommend. (Posted on 8/7/13)

  22. Smells Delicious! Review by Mz. Miller

I love the burnt sugar pomade on my hair, especially in winter. It makes my hair shine, and causes my twistouts to look really neat and defined. I use this product along with the Honey Hemp. The smell is so wonderful, that my family compliments me on how good my hair smells. Love this product! (Posted on 8/7/13)

  23. Love this product Review by Jacqueline

The Burnt Sugar Pomade is great for coily hair, it give shine to my gray hair and help elongate my coils. Great Stuff (Posted on 8/7/13)

  24. Addicting sweet treat for your hair Review by Tam

This is the crack of the Oyin line. If there were cameras in my bathroom when I used this stuff, you'd see me taking big whiffs like a fiend. I don't know what purpose it serves better - to moisturize and seal my hair or provide aromatherapy. But both are great benefits. I think this is the best smelling natural hair product on the market, hands down. Plus, it's good stuff! (Posted on 8/7/13)

  25. AMAZING!!!! Review by ERIKA

I bought this product in hopes of retaining moisture in my thick 4c hair. To my surprise it not only provide moisture for days, but this amazing product defined my coils. (Posted on 8/6/13)

  26. Dee-lish! Review by shawn

I love this stuff! After the Whipped Pudding, its what keeps me coming back to Oyin! My hair loves castor oil and I love the heavy vanilla scent of the Burnt Sugar - perfect match! I've used it in almost every fashion but love it most because it acts as a humectant and my hair loves the humidity. I apply before standing in the shower and get out with a world of spiral curls. Creates fat, lush twist and gives shine to twist outs or puffs. I'm protein sensitive so most gels leaves my hair super dry...I normally mix the gel with this and my edges are laid and moist. Great stuff!! (Posted on 8/6/13)

  27. Smells so good... Review by Fauryn78

When I first bought this product I intended to use it on my locs only but I loved the way it felt and smelled so much that I got my whole family using it (Hubby, and the kiddos 1, and 3) It works really well on our hair and I looooove it seals in the moisture and smells so good.... I THINK this is my second favorite product.... (Posted on 8/6/13)

  28. How Many Things Can You Do With Pomades?? Review by Nikasha

Initially, I used the pomades in a very limited fashion as a true sealer. Then I really enjoyed the moisture and definition it provided my 2 strand twist. I can absolutely use it on my edges without the fear of flaking. As quiet as it's kept, I use it as a moisturizer on the heels of my feet. It's always well received regarding scent. (Posted on 8/6/13)

  29. The ONLY product that properly seals my hair! Review by Krystal

I have high porosity hair, and it's hard to seal in the moisture. After going through my 2 hour wash day, it was getting frustrating when I my hair would feel dry 4 hours later. I tried different oils, but my hair is fine, and it is very easy to overdue it. A couple of weeks ago I decided to try the Burnt Sugar Pomade, and my hair was moisturized for at least a week! It is my new staple! (Posted on 8/4/13)

  30. Yum. Review by Janean

These pomades smell amazing and keep ,y ends and edges smooth, soft and protected. Staple for my ends when doing protective styles/twist outs. (Posted on 8/4/13)

  31. Burnt Sugar Pomade Review by Alanna

I have fine hair so it can't take heavy oils but it does respond well to oils. This product works well if you want oils for your curls without it overpowering your hair and leaving it limp and weighed down. The smell is great also. (Posted on 8/4/13)

  32. Burnt Sugar Pomade Review by Renee

This stuff is great! It has a great smell and it leaves your hair extra shiny! (Posted on 8/2/13)

  33. Smells wonderful, you'll love it Review by Shayla

I originally got a sample of the burnt sugar pomade in a gift basket. The first time I used it I couldn't believe how delicious it smelled...it will make you hungry. It's definitely not too overpowering because I don't like heavy lingering scents. I used the pomade to seal my two-strand twists and my coils turn out beautifully. It really has helped with my frizz. I'm hooked. Can't wait to try the berry. (Posted on 8/2/13)

  34. Burnt Sugar, Love of my (hair's) life.. Review by Kenya

I started using BSP during the beginning of my transition thanks to Spicy Eve on YouTube as an alternative to a very pricey butter I was using to seal with. It always leaves my hair feeling super soft and not greasy, no matter how much I use. 3 years later, i still use it to seal for dry twist outs. And oh the smell. I sometimes just walk in bathroom to open jar and sniff. It's that serious. Love your products! (Posted on 8/2/13)

  35. Sugar Pomade Review by Jess_9

I love this product. It makes my hair real so soft and the smell is to die for. It took me a long time to find something that I can seal my hair with and this product does the job. I would recommend this product to everyone I come in contact with. (Posted on 7/31/13)
