This stuff is like OMGoodness!!! First, the smell is AMAZING:) I opened the container and was immediately greeted with a vanilla bean... something or another!! Words can not do this pomade any justice!! Second, this stuff works WONDERS!!!! I put it on my hair and I was able to style and profile without hard sticky stuff weighing my hair down!!! I really love the way this stuff smells. I'm currently using it to oil my scalp while in braids, and the nape of my neck (those hairs too short for braids) and it made my hair really soft. I can't wait to take my braids down to put it on my entirely head. Thanks Oyin!!!

I receive my order yesterday, exactly two weeks from the date I placed my order. I was eager to try it out so I could leave a review so I applied it to a small section of hair seeing how my hair had been previously set. It has a great smell. Somewhat like a sugar cookie, nothing overpowering, at least not to me. Its texture is a lot more solid then in the display photo, perhaps this due to the coconut ingredient, but that didn't bother be at all. I just removed the cover and heated it up in for a few seconds, that made it a bit more spreadable. Now looking at the results from the section of hair I applied it to, I'm really pleased w/my purchase! It has a firm hold that's smooth to the touch and it leaves a smooth finish for twist outs. \

I used this product along with Shine&Define a few days ago to do my twists and I couldn't be happier with the results. Four days later my hair and scalp still feel perfectly moisturized, my twists are completely frizz free, and they have never been shinier. I can't bring myself to untwist my hair yet! The only thing I'm not crazy about is the scent. Everyone around me loves it, but I don't like smelling like food. Luckily, the smell isn't overpowering, and I don't notice it after a few hours. Scented or not, this product is still my hair's Holy Grail. Thank you so much Oyin!

The smell is so yummy!!!! Use it on my edges, scalp and twist. It is not greasy at all. The only thing is mine is not the texture in the picture. It is truly a pomade. I don't know wether or not the picture or mine is the right texture but it works!

this is truly the best pomade i've tried thus far. it slicks hair down--and moisturizes--without leaving that greasy feeling. if it came in a slick-stick applicator version loved it on day one but day two was no good...the drawback (for me) is its ingredient of soybean oil. i realized that the product contained soy after it began to irritate my scalp. of the ingredients listed on the site so the product worked great aside from the soy. however i hope a complete listing of ingredients for products will be posted from now on...and hopefully a soy-free version of this will be created soon...if so

This is actually an update on this product. I actually left a review complaining about the smell of the product. I didn't want to get rid of it, so I decided to try it again. This time, I put it on my hair first, then followed with Oyin's Shine and Define Serum. Then proceeded two strand twist a section of my hair. Not only was my hair super soft and defined, but the smell was not overpowering. My hair smelled like orange sherbet!! Wins my five stars!!

I love this pomade. It gives all the benefits of a grease like pomade, but without everything you don't want. I'm currently transitioning with a curly mohawk and the sides and back of my hair are totally natural. I put the BSP in my wet natural hair after co washing, and when my hair dries it's always crazy soft, but not greasy at all. It also gives me good curl definition. The only thing that I don't like is that when you first apply in your wet hair it's white, so you can't really run out the door. But it has usually soaked in my hair by the time I finish getting dressed. It's also good for moisturizing my natural hair when I have second day hair.

I love the texture of this product. The way it makes the hair look and feel is amazing! My only complaint is the smell--it's super strong to me. I wanted to love it and I couldn't, which is unusual for me because I love the scent of every Oyin product I have tried (and that's most of them).\

I'm once again in LOVE with one of your products. This is my first time trying this wonderful creation by Oyin. OMG it's perfection in a tin. Firstly let me say that the smell makes my husband crazy. He can't stop smelling my hair. I put Bontu knots in as a protective style for about three days, when I took them out my hair was super soft and the smell was out of this world. I even us it as a skin moisturizer (who knew) on my legs arms and face. I well def recommend this product to my family and friends. I just got it and I need more, it's almost finished. I love this pomade! I heard about it from a friend. I have relaxed hair. I was looking for something that is light, moisturizing, has good (natural) ingredients, and wouldn’t weigh my hair down. I used it both on dry hair and on damp hair to seal my ends after washing. It’s great. My hair is moisturized and doesn’t look weighed down at all – a little goes a long way. I use it on my scalp as well and it’s great. The smell is wonderful – I can’t stop smelling the jar and I love sniffing my hair when I use this. This is the first time I brought this and it won’t be the last. I tried many other products (natural and otherwise) and this one is the best hands down!!

I love, love, love this product. It is heavily perfumed, but the consistancy and shine on your hair is more than fabulous. Yet, Oyin needs to great it together with their customer service. It's bad enough that it takes three weeks for your order to get to you, and I live an hour away from their shipping facility, but I had trouble with my shipping and no one from Oyin's end contacted me to rectify the situation. I had to initiate every inquiry and update. It appears that this is the norm with them. I am really upset and disappointed with Oyin and considering not purchasing again due to this. Only thing I can think of to ask is: why didn't I purchase the Burnt Sugar Pomade sooner? I put my hair in 2-strand twists last night, took them out the next morning and I'm loving the end result. My curls are still holding, and they smell sooooo good. My scalp isn't dry either. I'll be adding this as a staple to my winter haircare regimen. I may have to try the whipped pudding and/or shea butter to see how they work with the pomade. Thank you again, Jamyla.

This is a dream come true for those that have dreads.Its not the heavy wax type that takes forever to wash out or the heavy greasy look waxes leave behind.This sinks right in and the smell is light,not overbearing.It washes out with no problems.I will be buying more of this in the bigger size when I run out.

This product smells sorta like sugar cookies... however, I am sensitive to some smells and the pomade started to give me a headache after about an hour on my hair. I'm sure my hair and scalp would benefit from the ingredients listed, but I can't get past the smell. As stated before, it smells really sweet, which is usually a good thing, but for those of us with scent allergies (if there is such a thing), Oyin please consider making this unscented!! Or offer it as part of the sample pack so we can get a whiff before committing to a full size.

Hands down, the best pomade i've ever used in my life!! It smells sooooo good. The texture is nice and what it does for my hair is un-parallel. I apply to my 3C curls once my hair is 90% dry and it helps prevent frizzing..leaves my hair super soft..shiny..smelling almost to good. I also use this to seal my ends, put my hair in up-do twists and to slick my hair into my signature super high bun bun. I have waist lenth hair aka old hair and it's hard to find products that leave my tresses looking and feeling healthy but this is IT! I will most def. continue to purchase this excellent product!!

My afro hair has been sooo dry with this hot summer sun, plus I dyed it. But when I used the whipped pudding and the Burnt Sugar Pomade, its like I have new hair. No more dryness, plus shine and softness. Best twistouts ever. I just wonder how long/healthy my hair would be now if I had been using Oyin since I first went natural. I really hope they do not change these two products.

I got my burnt sugar pomade yesterday and i L.O.V.E I.T SOOOOOO MUCH! It is the only product that has layed my hair down without leaving it hard. Another great product. I did try twists, the morning after my wonderful GREG JUICE detangling experience...not a tangle still. I used a lock/twist gel product then applied the Burnt Sugar to my parts and the twists..yummy scent and I still have neat, frizz free springy twists hours later. Almost afraid to tell about the great products--fear you'll become so big someone buys you out and messes with the formulations. Don't sell...keep it homegrown!!!!!!! PROMISE?

Didn't like the smell of this at all when it arrived some months ago. All disappointed, I put it in the fridge. For some reason I revisted it today and I LOVE IT!! Hormones, maybe. A good thing. My ends were sooo dry (because I had done a number on my hair) but Frank's juice + pomade on the ends + bantu knots + a nap = recovered hair when I got up. YEAH!!!!! My hurrr looks purrty.

Omg, I look crazy here smelling my hands like this, but dang I just can’t get over how good I smell now. Great skin moisturizer. Hands and nostrils saying thank you. Brushed right into the hairline with a nice shine and felt really good and fresh on my scalp, too! Oil intensive; your hair has to like oils for this to work. My 3c, million-of-strands, fine curls love oil, drank the burnt sugar right up, and went to shining, pop lock and dropping, and laughing all the day.

So I recieved all of my products in a timely manner. Everything smells amazing but this Burnt Sugar Pomade is wonderful, the smell, the texture, and the way it works. I rub this on my hair after shampooing with the Uber Poo Bar and conditioning with The Honey Hemp conditioner which might I add both are wonderful. Anyhow try on your roller sets, wonderful hold and beautiful shine and body, its not to heavy. I love all of your products Oyin keep up the great work.

Absolutely fantastic product! The scent is scrumptious! I bought this for my son because he is allergic to so many things, but he loves to keep his waves tight. I knew the natural ingredients would be perfect to maintain his skin and hair, but it never dawned on me that I would love it so much. I made the mistake of smelling it and trying it on my hair and skin first. The edges of my hair were smooth and glossy, and my hair smelled lovely all day. It was hard to part with, but I will be placing another order or taking a trip to visit the store. The whole family wants their own pomade!!!! Kudos to the Oyin family for a great product and fantastic customer service!

If I could give Oyin 1 star I would firts of all 3 weeks I have been waiting. 2 nd of all my package has been sent Philadelphia, Alabama????????????what???????? does that even make any sense. 3rd of all only 60.00 of my shippment was shipped and 150.00 was taken out of my bank account. No way to get in touch with them. I wrote them several times no answer. Support black business I'll stick with the Europeans sorry there allways on time and don't mess up orders.\

The scent is just what the name indicates - BURNT SUGAR! My opinion is that it's a pretty decent pomade mainly because it is NOT excessively greasy and super sticky like DAX or BRONNER BROS. It's light weight and has some what of a creamy texture. I mostly use it to seal in moisture and ocassionally on my edges when I wear a puff. The best thing about this product? It's natural ingredients and non-traditional texture. I'm sure I'll buy this pomade again.

Well I regret to say that I absolutely hated this product, along with all the other products that I ordered. I patiently waited three weeks for my order and was quite disappointed when I received it. The scents were repulsive. I tried so hard to like buy couldn't. I had heard and read so many good things about Oyin Handmade products and just couldn't understand why I couldn't stomach it.

I think this is my favorite OH product. I use it for twisting, when my hair is loose for moisture and frizzies, to slick back my hair when it's in a puff, for shine, for my scalp........there are just so many uses for this product. It doesn't help that it reminds me of my favorite butterscotch candy...mhhhmmmmm. I am one of those people who has hair that doesn't like oil...at all. That's why I am glad that OH makes this product because for some odd reason this works for me. Thank you so much OH, you have made my natural journey so much easier now that I have found products that actually work. If only I could get some larger sizes....16 oz perhaps?? ^_^

i haven't received my order yet, but just wanted point something out to the ladies complaining about shipping. when they say that there is a two-week turnaround, that does not mean that you order will be shipped within those two weeks, or you can expect it in two weeks. it means, two weeks will pass BEFORE your item is even shipped out, and then add a week for when it is shipped out. it can easily take three weeks before you get your package!\

I love the burnt sugar pomade. I used it to add moisture to my wash and go and curls that i didn't even know i had started popping. I used it tonight to twist my hair and they're defined and very moisturized. Definitely a keeper!!\
As for the smell, I've been thinking about pancakes all day long!! very delicious. Thank you for making great products:)

I've been having a scalp problem for years now, lots of flaking and such, and with my skin allergies, it's hard for me to find things I can use. My cousin gave me a jar of this and the flaking is almost gone! I've had no negative reactions to this stuff! It's wonderful! I need more, darnit.

I *swear* by this stuff, nothing holds my hair down and keeps the frizzies at bay like the burnt sugar pomade. Plus, I love this scent so much. I like this burnt sugar, but it looks nothing like the photo. I thought it would be carmalized, but it's more solid. Great smell. I used it with my twists along with the nourish and shine and the hold is better than anything I've tried so far. Digging the hemp condish too. I honestly don't know what I would do without some sugar! I used to be a loyal Carol's Daughter customer but since trying Oyin.I haven't looked back.
I like how Oyin's products are light non-greasy and not THICK like Carol's Daughter beeswax laden products. I'm not knocking CD. I'm just saying for me Oyin is SUPER better especially this pomade...and everything else this woman mixes!

I hate the fact that I crave pancakes with syrup in the worst way when I use the Burnt Sugar Pomade ;-) , but I love how it protects my hairline and imparts a nice sheen. A little bit goes a very long way. My mom has relaxed hair, and she loves it too - in fact, she made me include one in this order so she could have her own. If you're an old-school hair grease lover but don't want to choke your hair & scalp with mineral oil or petroleum products or attract dirt, then BSP is for you. Try it....you won't be disappointed!

I like this product very much. I've tried a lot of greases and pomades. They've always left my strands feeling clumped together and/or been a magnet for dirt. I've been sealing my hair with raw coconut oil for the past few months, but now that it's summer, the coconut oil is very volatile. On hot days it melts into a messy liquid, and I don't want to have to keep it in the fridge. Anyway, Oyin's Burnt Sugar Pomade. Leaves my hair soft and shiny. It's not too heavy, not too light and I love the natural ingredients!!!

penetrates well in hair when dry, but will leave hair white if you apply in the shower while hair is wet. it will eventually penetrate. smell is very sweet and lingering. as a guy (who is quite metrosexual:), i would prefer an earthier or citrus fragrance. my orders seem to take longer than the 1.5 weeks they claim and the customer service here is quite frankly, terrible. products are still good though.

Can I say I love you? I avoid bees wax and petrolium (sp), so I've been using the gels to twist my dreads at the root. Sometimes they are drying. I wanted a pomade that moisterizes, hold a twist in my hair but is not heavy. This was the ticket. My husband and I love the smell. It conditioned my hair without being greasy and my hair looks pretty. The roots look more relaxed in the twist than gelled tight. Wonderful. Do not stop making this gem.

Smells wonderful - like burnt sugar and caramel! It doesn't look orange-yellow like in the photo or very much like burnt sugar for that matter. Mine is more of an opaque yellow-white color like petroleum jelly (aka Vaseline). I used it on my daughters twist extensions at the root and along the synthetic twists and her hair is soft with a sparkly sheen all over. I also used it along my edges for my puff and it gave my hair a nice sheen and softness. Although it took more than 1-1/2 weeks to finish processing my order did arrive only a day after it showed as shipped in my account. Again, I really love the scent! Keep up the good work!

I happened upon this pomade by accident and, despite my love for Jamyla and trust in her super-mixtress skills, had no idea how much I would love this pomade, which is heavy enough going on to seriously moisturize, yet surprisingly light when I touch my hair later. Well done, Oyin.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? This pomade has helped me get my hair in the best shape it's been in for years. After washing my hair I'll rub a small amount in my hands and distrubute it through my hair before blowdrying. It protects my hair from the heat, and smooths and moisterizes the shaft. My hair blows arrow straight, my ends don't get dry, and my scalp never gets flaky. Did I mention the scent? I've had people stop me at work and sniff my head. \

I have a fade, and this is the best pomade I could have ever tried! I recently locs my locs to cancer, but before I did, I used this for retwisting, and loved it. Because I didnt want to get rid of the half used container, I began using it when my hair started growing back...and its great! I spray greg juice on my short hair first, then use this pomade at night before i put on my doorag...and my hair lays so nicely, and smells great everyday now!

I would recommend this product for any hair texture. Most products out there just coat the hair and after awhile your hair is dry or it's too oily.\

My hair has never smelled so good or has felt this soft. Please don't forget this is also an excellent product for your skin. \

Hi. I received my first order of the Burnt Sugar Pomade and I love it! I can say my hair has responded the best to it out of the MANY (mostly natural) products I have tried. The real test is at the end of the day and it passes with flying colors. Prior to using it, my hair would be dry and hard to comb through but now my hair is softer and I can comb through it more easily wet or dry. After only a few uses, I can tell my hair definitely thrives on this stuff! I read on your forum where someone was suggesting making a bigger size. I second that! Thanks for a great product!

This is now my favorite OYIN product! i could write pages just about the smell alone--so amazing! people actully stop me, and ask what it is! I melt this on my hands and put it on my wet hair. it gives me perfect little corkscrews!!! and when the hair dries, it's VERY shiny and buttery soft. the scent really does last all day, and it will linger everywhere. thank you for making this!!!!

Mmmm, burnt sugar pomade. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Okay, first of all this is non-greasy despite the fact that it is mostly comprised of oils. How did the Mixtress manage that? I dunno, she is just a genius. The fragrance is off the chain an absolutely lovely warm sugar smell that lasts all day and night. It was easily absorbed by my hair and skin and left both oh so soft.
